No one shall be subject to abuse, harassment or violence at any workplace; however, the experience is common for most migrant and people of colour. All workers have bills to pay and families to feed while opportunities are slim; we learnt to put up and deal with the painful experience quietly. But, a workplace should be not that way.

After the being exposed to toxic workplace at any point in time, what did we do about it? A smart solution is to find a new employment. But, that does not change the condition of the terrible workplace for anyone. Leaving toxic a workplace, opens the door for someone else to fall into the same trap.

Large companies tolerate bad managers and supervisors even if that goes against the law, company policy or social principles; just for profit. Not only vulnerable groups are underpaid, mistreated and subject to harsh working conditions, regulatory agencies are notorious for dismissing applications specially migrant and workers of colour.

An audio clip of real incident occurred in October 2019 at my former workplace Securitas Canada (Mobile) in Toronto. Would you tolerate such behaviour from your boss? The person speaking is Radko Radkov, supervisor at Securitas Canada under manager Marc Eskander. With new management, low morale and high turnover were ordinary.

I reached out to senior management, nothing changed. I reached out to union, nothing improved. I filed multiple legal applications, all were dismissed. I am no longer there but my former coworkers continue to experience what I experienced and afraid to come out publicly, that bothers me. What can I do to help? Let me know your thoughts. #healthandsafety #workplace #canada
